Christenings

Baptism (or Christening as it’s sometimes referred to) marks a new start – a decision to follow Jesus Christ within the family of the Church. In the Christening Service parents, along with the Godparents, come to the front of the church and publicly promise to do their best to raise their child to know that God loves them, and to help them follow Jesus as a member of the Church.

There are two services a month where Christenings take place. On the first Sunday of the month, Christenings take place in the main 10:30am service. This service lasts around an hour, and is an all age service, and children stay in the service. A crèche is available at this service. Coffee is served after this service, and the Christening parties are welcome to stay. On the second Sunday of the month we hold a specific Christening service. This service starts at 12:30pm and lasts around 45 minutes, and there are usually 2 or 3 Christenings at each of these services.

We offer Christenings to babies and young children who live within our parish or to children or adults who are committed members of our church community. If you're interested in booking a Christening, please first check that you live in the parish and then come along to a service to find out more.
