Getting here

Welcome

There has been a worshipping community in Burton Dassett since the 12th century and whether you have been to church before or are coming for the first time, you are assured of a warm welcome!

The Parish of Burton Dassett supports two churches: the Chapel of Ease in Northend and the wonderful All Saints Church at Burton Dassett. Both are open to the public every day throughout the year.

The Chapel of Ease, which seats about 50 people, is built in 1853 from local stone and is situated in Northend next to the vicarage and adjacent to the village green.

ALL SAINTS is a most beautiful and captivating Norman church and is one of the finest examples, being totally unspoilt. The church stands on the steeply sloping hillside of the Dassett Magna country park which is very obvious once inside when you see that the floor of the church slopes up quite steeply to the altar.

Built in the 12th Century, known locally as the 'Cathedral in the Hills', it is a Listed Grade 1 building which in 2009 underwent an enormous restoration project to preserve and restore some of its medieval wall paintings. It is a beautiful and tranquil place, of historical and architectural interest which continues to have a vibrant worshiping community which work hard to both maintain this beautiful building and keep it open as a worshiping parish church.

Services

Regular services are held in both of our churches.

Of particular note is the traditional candle-lit Christmas Carol Service at All Saints': the church, which can seat 300 people, is filled with visitors who travel from all over the region for this popular service. On Easter Saturday we walk in pilgrimage from the Chapel of Ease in Northend to All Saints to celebrate the Easter Vigil.

This is our usual pattern of services. Please contact us to verify in which church the service will be held on any specific Sunday.

1st Sunday:  9am Communion - Book of Common Prayer

2nd Sunday: 9am Morning Prayer - Lay led

3rd Sunday: 10.30am Communion - Common Worship

4th Sunday:  9am Morning Prayer - Lay led

5th Sunday: 10.30am Communion Common Worship.                                                                                      This is a Dassett Magna Parishes group service and is held at one of the churches within the group.                   - please contact us for the venue.
