Invitation Come to a free cinema matinee, courtesy of Tideswell Cinema, with Churches Together. “Chocolat” starring Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp and Judi Dench On Thursday February 23rd at 2pm in Tideswell Community Hall (The film is 2hrs long; doors open at 1.45pm) You’ll also be welcome to sample this year’s Churches Together Lent meetings, using excerpts and themes from the film to discuss change and renewal, and the daily challenge of growing, giving and living, in the light of the good news of Christ. We’ll make use of the book “Christ and the Chocolaterie” by Hilary Brand. The meetings are on Thursday afternoons right through March, 2-3.30pm downstairs at The Old Grammar School (behind St John’s Church). Intrigued? Come and see the film, and find out more. The film is based on the 1999 novel Chocolat by the English author, Joanne Harris, directed by Lasse Hallström. Chocolat tells the story of Vianne Rocher, played by Juliette Binoche, who arrives in the fictional French village of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes at the beginning of Lent with her six-year-old daughter, Anouk. She opens a small chocolaterie. Soon, she and her chocolate influence the lives of the townspeople of this repressed French community in different and interesting ways.
