Anglicans and Methodists are in a local ecumenical partnership. In 2010 we became one congregation in one building, the former Methodist church now known simply as Loundsley Green church. The main Sunday service is at 9.45 am and is staffed sometimes by Methodists and sometimes by Anglicans. Holy Communion is celebrated twice a month on Sunday mornings, at 6 pm on the second Sunday of the month, and every Tuesday at 9.30 am.
Loundsley Green church is not yet licensed for Anglican weddings, so for Loundsley Green parish residents these can be held at the church of a neighbouring parish, and Old Brampton is the most convenient since it is served by the same Vicar, who also has charge of Great Barlow. See http://www.oldbramptonchurch.org.uk and http://www.barlowchurch.org.uk
The Anglican church, the Church of the Ascension, closed its doors as a place of worship just before Pentecost 2010. It had been built as the church hall in the new Loundsley Green Estate, opening its doors in September 1964. The decision had been taken some years ago for Anglicans and Methodists to share what had been the Methodist building, judged to be a better solution than using the Anglican building. We hope to retain the Anglican building as a community resource.
