Church Building

Renovation Plans

We are currently appealing for donations to enable us to repair and renovate the church building in time for its 150th anniversary in 2024, which we hope to celebrate with the parish.

Unfortunately, it is in desperate need of updating. We have recently spent over £60k replacing the cast iron guttering, which we hope has now stabilised the serious water ingress damage to the stonework. The tower clock has also not been working for two years, and we just do not have the £10k needed to repair it.

We would love to continue updating the building for the congregation and community to use by building a small servery at the back of the church. Currently, we have very limited facilities, with all water having to be carried from the building’s two small taps and then heated up in urns which have health and safety risks. Having a servery will allow us to more easily provide refreshments for church-led events, coffee mornings and gatherings such as our Light Parties and First Day Toast and Tea for parents.

We would also like to install draft-proof glass inner doors, which would be wheelchair and pushchair friendly and provide a warm and light welcome to our visitors.
