Our Building

St Matthew's is a Grade 1 listed church and features in Simon Jenkins' book "England's 1,000 best churches." It is noted for fine collection of medieval stained glass, especially that which came from Dale Abbey at the dissolution. It is also noted for its memorial brasses and armorial tiles.

Music and Worship

We have four bells.

Our organ is by Hill and as such is highly regarded by our Diocesan Organs' Adviser.

Groups, Courses and Activities

This is held on the first Wednesday morning of each month in the adjacent former Rectory and Diocesan Retreat House. It runs from 10.30 am onwards. It is staffed by church members and all proceeds are for church funds.

St Matthew's has never had its own MU Branch and our members support the Smalley & District Branch (Morley and Smalley form a United Benefice).
