Baptisms/Christenings

WE have a high number of Christenings in Holy Trinity which are free of charge to those families living in Murton (or may have recent connections with the parish).

The Church of England website has very good information about what it means to have your child Christened and the responsibilities of Godparents.

Christenings usually take place after the Sunday service and  begin at 12.15 They usually last about 30 minutes. If you would like your child baptised at Holy Trinity, contact the Vicar with the date you would like and then arrangements can be made from there.

New from October 2022

Christian Baptism is such an important ministry, it is something every christian see's as the starting point in their faith journey with God. For many years the local church has attempted to express this to baptism families through a preparation night prior to the Christening. However, we recognise that we attempt to overload people with words and ideas that they have never had time to think about before. So for all baptisms that will take place from October 2022 families will be invited to complete a three part preparation course and also to attend our family services which take place the third Sundays in each month.

Please do take a look at the letter attached along with the booklet that basically gives some explanation to infant  Baptism, the spiritual role of parents and godparents in the life of a child.

We recognise that some families may  prefer to have a simple service and so to give thanks to God for the birth of their child. To accommodate this we are setting into our monthly service a Welcome and Thanksgiving service.

For further information on Welcome and Thanks giving please contact the Vicar, Revd Mark Harrison
