Maundy Thursday Worship and Watch

Occurring
for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue
St George, East Boldon
Address
Front Street East Boldon, NE36 0SW, United Kingdom

On Maundy Thursday we gather in church at St George's, just as Jesus and his disciples did in the upper room. On that night Jesus gave himself in humble service, washing the feet of his friends, and we also offer the opportunity to have your feet washed, as a symbolic following of his command to serve each other.

We'll share communion, the bread and wine, remembering Jesus commandment "to do this in memory of me", and then at the end of the service, the church is ceremonially stripped and we move into the chapel for the Watch of the Passion. This is a time of quiet prayer and contemplation, waiting with Jesus just as the first disciples did. You're welcome to stay for as short or as long a time as you'd like.

St Nicholas Hedworth Lane, Boldon Colliery

Welcome to St Nicholas, Hedworth Lane in Boldon Colliery, home to Grace Church and Messy Church in the Boldons. We're an open and inclusive community, worshiping from the beautiful church building in the midst of Boldon Colliery. We want to share the love of Jesus that we know in our lives with those in our community.

Grace Church is a brand new church family, people of all ages gathering together to get to know Jesus, explore faith and do life together. It's a space where everyone is welcomed to come as they are and spend time together with God. If you're exploring, wondering, questioning or returning, you are welcome here! It's family friendly too.

Messy Church in the Boldons, is particularly aimed at younger people and meets monthly. Every gathering is packed full of songs and stories, craft and fun, and food and prayer. There's also Little Angels our stay and play toddler group, which meets every Thursday morning in term time.

If we can help in any way please don't hesitate to make contact, either in person at any time that the building is open, or by telephone or email.
