St Nicholas

Welcome to St Nicholas! We are the parish church for Ashbrooke, Thornhill, Humbledon Hill, and Tunstall, and are located on the Barnes Gyratory (roundabout). We exist to proclaim the love of God and to be a sign of his kingdom in the world.

The parish of Bishopwearmouth St Nicholas is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of Durham’s safeguarding page contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA), Beth Miller, who advises our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

Dunelm South / Alexandra Road

At our mid-week Communion, we use the contemporary-language form of service found in Common Worship. At present, Covid-19 restrictions apply, including mask-wearing and the congregation receiving only the bread and not the wine. Refreshments are served after the service, in the church hall.

The church will be open 6-7pm on Mondays 6th, 13th and 20th December, as a gift of breathing space for anyone who needs it.
