Welcome to St Nicholas' Church. On this page, you will find details of the worship services and other events that take place here. Some are for particular groups, such as children; require booking; and have a charge to cover costs. Others are open to anyone. All of our worship services are free of charge to attend (though there is the opportunity to make a voluntary donation) and do not require booking in advance (unless clearly stated). Some of our services and events are held in the church, and some in the church hall next to the church. For winter events in the church, we would recommend that you wrap up warm. We look forward to welcoming you.

At our mid-week Communion, we use the contemporary-language form of service found in Common Worship. This is a 'said' service, without music or hymns. Refreshments are served after the service, in the church hall.

At our 8.00 a.m. Holy Communion, we use the traditional-language form of service found in the Book of Common Prayer. This is a 'said' service, with no music or hymns.
At our 10.30 a.m. service, lasting about an-hour-and-a-quarter, we use the contemporary-language form of services found in Common Worship. This is the service with the largest congregation. On the first, third, and fourth Sunday of the month this is a service of Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist, Breaking of Bread, or Mass). On the second and fifth Sundays, our service is one of Morning Prayer (Communion is still available on these Sundays, at 8.00 a.m. only). We sing hymns, hear a sermon and think about how we might respond, and pray for our parish and the world. At present there are no children's groups, but children of all ages are welcomed. Refreshments are served after the service, in the church hall.

St Nicholas' Church will be open 6.00-7.00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of Holy Week. Join us for a short reflection and time to move around the prayer stations around the room depicting the story of Holy Week.
Join us in praying for the parish, Tuesday mornings, 7.30 a.m. - 8.00 a.m.
Join us for a service of Holy Communion as we remember the Last Supper and Jesus' mandate that we should love one another as he has loved us. The service concludes in silence as the altars are stripped of their linen as we enter the sombre days of Good Friday and Holy Saturday.
The church will be open from 12 noon. Come and make use of the prayer stations around the room depicting the events of Holy Week. From 2.00pm onward we will observe the Liturgy of the Last Hour at the Cross together.

Join us at our early service (8.00am, BCP Holy Communion) or at 10.30am for the Service of Light, Baptism, and Holy Communion as we celebrate Jesus' mighty resurrection and victory over the powers of sin and death.
Care & Share is our monthly lunch for those who are vulnerably housed in our community.
12.30 p.m. - 2.00 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month.
The University of the Third Age provides a programme of learnig events for older members of the community, and meets here on the third Friday of the month.
Messy Church at St Nicholas takes place once a month (as advertised, usually on the third or fourth Sunday afternoon) 3.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m.
Messy Church is for everyone, but in particular for families of Primary school-aged children. We enjoy crafts and activities relating to a story from the Bible, have fun together, pray together, and end with sharing a picnic.
