Claire's July letter

What a wonderful Fete we had last Saturday 20th June. The weather was perfect – warm but not scorching hot- and The Eversden Brass Band delighted us all with their playing. John and Andrew also gave a short but dazzling piano recital in the church with enthusiastic applause after each piece. Peter was very busy at the Count the Sweets in the Jar Stall and the Sweets Tombola was especially popular with the children as were the many craft activities, whilst others sampled the delicious tea and cakes. We raised about £1300 after expenses and all had a great time. Thank you to all the helpers, especially those putting up and taking down Gazebos and to Jane for steering the organisation.

Last Sunday Bishop Sarah was installed as Bishop of Ely. There was more brass music this time from Prime Brass with Timpani. The whole occasion was very inspiring. Last night I was at Barnabas’ installation as Vicar of Trumpington which was also a very joyful occasion.

This coming, Sunday 28th June we are celebrating the Feast of St Peter with our sister church of St Peter’s at Coton at 11am. We are then having a shared lunch at 12 noon in the Village Hall. I will provide wine and soft drinks but please do bring a small plate of something to share. Cutlery, plates and glasses will be provided. See poster attached.

On Saturday 4th July we will be having a coffee morning from 10am -12 noon. At 11am that day Rebecca Herrick our excellent administrator for 4 years will be ordained deacon at Ely Cathedral so please keep Becca in your thoughts and prayers as you drink your coffee!

For other events coming up in local churches in the Team, do also see the Lordsbridge Team Monthly Mailing.

With summer blessings and love and thanks for all you do,

Claire
