St Mary's, WooddittonSt Mary's, WooddittonWoodditton is an ancient village, first mentioned in an instrument of King Canute, and in Domesday Book. The present church has been a feature of the village for over 500 years. Parts of the north aisle are 14th century. The church was vandalised by Cromwell's men, but thankfully not razed. Notable features include a beautiful brass and a unique "dripping pan' gravestone.
The bells were restored in 1984, having been silent for 28 years. They are now rung for practice on Tuesday evenings and at weddings and services by a very enthusiastic team. A programme of internal reordering of the porch and the tower areas to make space for children's activities, a kitchen and toilet, is in progr
