There are certain times of the year that herald new beginnings; New Year, the start of a new academic year, and springtime, to name just three.

As a follower of Jesus, Christians are in a privileged position. Every day provides a new opportunity, a new beginning. 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’

Following Christ brings us a fresh start and a transformed life. Previous problems, bad experiences, failed relations, can be set aside, not to be dismissed or forgotten, but allowing us to move forward with renewed hope. Isaiah 43: 18-19 reminds us to, ‘Forget the former things, do not dwell in the past’.

The Benefice of Stanground, Farcet and Fletton has a new beginning. On Sunday 26th July Rev Tom Simpson was licensed as the new vicar. This is an exciting time as our four churches seek to bring God’s word, love, and compassion to all who live in our communities.

We do hope that you will join us at a service, a coffee morning, a prayer group, or one of the other events that are regularly held in our four churches; St. Margaret’s, Fletton, St. John’s and St. Michael’s, Stanground, and St. Mary’s, Farcet.

We are here to welcome all people at whatever stage of life you find yourself in.
