A bid for grant funding, submitted in August and awarded in September, has provided £4000 to go towards replacing the old windows in St John's Church Hall.Thrive Renewables and the Centre for Sustainable Energy help businesses and local communities to improve their energy efficiency. These grants are available to groups/charities within close proximity to Thrive wind turbine developments (in this case, the March Greenvale Potato processing plant) who can evidence that the funding they receive to put towards their project will reduce their carbon footprint and increase energy efficiency.Replacing the Hall's windows will allow the building to keep much warmer in winter; it will lower heating/energy costs, help keep hire costs down, make the building look more visually appealing, reduce noise for the hall's neighbours and increase the building's energy efficiency. Work has been organised to ensure minimal impact on groups/hall hire.Many thanks to those who helped and supported with this application - it was a time-consuming but worthwhile task!!Please note that there will be no groups running in the Hall Thursday 7th and Friday 8th November while work is undertaken (Revolutions group is cancelled, Tots will take place in Church)Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to our groups and likewise to any of our neighbours who may be affected in any way while this work is being undertaken.Here’s hoping that having double-glazed windows that actually close fully, will keep the Hall warmer during the winter months!
