Thanks to everyone from across the benefice who joined St Nicolas Manea for a service for our pets. It was great to sing some old favourites like All Things Bright and Beautiful. Pets included a hamster (called Sirius Black), two rats, a cuddly cat and plenty of dogs. All the animals were well behaved...Many thanks to Oakley, who is a Pets As Therapy dog, who brought his owner, Ajay, who told how Pets As Therapy connect with people in Askham House, Doddington.
Our annual Founders Day Fete returned on June 14th, and with the support of parishioners far and wide it was another great day. We had some 240 people in attendance and were able to raise much needed funds for our beloved church. We took an amazing £1585 on the day and after costs we had £1185 net - so thank you very, very much! We had all last years attractions like Archery, Crockery Smashing, (Cuddly) Swan Throwing, Hoopla, Silly Games, WW2 memorabilia on display, Ice Cream van, beer tent, refreshments, stalls selling plants, honey, knitwear & pyrography. The local Police had a stand, there was a coconut shy and so, so much more. It really was an absolutely lovely day with lots of smiling happy faces both young and old. Again, many, many thanks for your support - it makes all the hard work totally worth it!
