In May of this year we were delighted to host the wedding of Eryn and Oliver, the first of three weddings to take place at St Mary's this year! As always the bride looked beautiful in her wedding dress and the groom was dressed to impress. Congratulations to you both! We also send our congratulations and best wishes to Yuliya and Daniel for their wedding in August and also Harriet and George for their wedding in September. We wish all three couples the very best as they embark upon their future lives together as husband and wife.
In the spring of 2025 we were privileged to host the wedding of Paul and Hannah and despite the drama of the church grounds being damaged in the January by an oil tanker, the grounds were reinstated so that everything was able to go ahead as planned for their big day. Since then Paul and his family have become regular attendees at benefice wide events, attending the Alpha course and the Sunday Breakfast Club at Wimblington, as well as attending services whenever family life permits. It was therefore our greatest pleasure to host the baptism of their two children in March of this year and to welcome them into the family of Christ, although admittedly, their young son was not impressed with being annointed with Holy Water!We wish Paul and his family all the very best as they continue their journey in faith as a family. It truly shows that the family of Christ is for all ages.
Our Founders Day Fete on June 13th was another roaring success! We had approximately 195 visitors on site plus volunteers. We had new activities like the Strongman Game, Roll-A-Coin and Shetland ponies to groom alongside firm favourites like Punch & Judy, archery and of course, our cuddly Swan throwing competition. Our grateful thanks go out to all those who helped in any way what so ever and of course to everyone who attended. We raised a whopping £1,392.00 net which we assure you we will spend wisely on keeping St Mary's at the centre of village life!THANK YOU
Two roles are available in Fenland in Cambridgeshire and the borders of Norfolk. The Benefice Administrator role is available across the two benefices of the Six Fen Churches (located between the market towns of March and Chatteris) and Pathway Church (four churches in and around Whittlesey). Each benefice requires a contractor for 36 hours per month. Preference will be given to someone who can fulfil the contract for both benefices, but we are happy to take applications from people who wish to provide their services to just one of the benefices. The Family Pastoral Worker role is for 21 hours (three days) a week spread between three of the six villages in the Six Fen Churches Benefice. Preference will be given to someone who can fulfil the contract for all three villages, however applications will also be considered for those who are willing to work in one, two or three of the villages.
