Getting here

St Mary's is a traditional church with a 'central' style of worship (not especially high or low) and with a tradition of reaching out to those around us - we've had a 'shared ministry' involving both clergy and laity for over 35 years and are currently a member of a group of 9 rural churches.

Worship: We try to offer something for most tastes with everyone welcome at all our Services, with a 'Toddler's Corner' for the very young. We provide a regular pattern of morning worship with a traditional Communion Service on the first and fourth Sunday each month, an informal 'All-Age' Service on the second Sunday and a united 'Benefice Service' for all 9 churches on the third and fifth Sundays (when we all gather in one of our 9 churches in rotation). We also have a group of young Teenagers exploring new ways of conrtemorary worshipping at an informal evening Service on the third Sundays every month.

Events: We have a good relationship with our village Church of England School, where we lead weekly events in school and hold end of term Services in the church. We run an occassional Bible Study Group in someone's home, regular social events and concerts in the church or village hall next door, and a Mens Breakfast in the village pub every other month - see our website for current details on all worship and social events: www.dymockchurch.net

Dymock is a village of over 1,000 souls set in a rural area that, in years past, provided daffodils on a commercial scale. Today, visitors in the spring can walk through the daffodil woods followed by coffee/tea and home-made cake in church every day for the 6 weeks of Lent.

Dymock is famous for the ‘Dymock Poets’ (Lascelles Abercrombie, Rupert Brooke, John Drinkwater, Robert Frost, Wilfrid Gibson and Edward Thomas) who lived in the area around the first World War. There is a permanent exhibition about them in the church.
