St Swithun

Welcome to St Swithun's, Hempsted, Gloucester

The parish of Hempsted with Gloucester, Saint Mary de Lode and Saint Mary de Crypt is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Gloucester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

Weekly Parish communion service

With the lifting of coronavirus restrictions in England, we are asked to remain cautious as the virus is still present. As a Christian community, we think particularly of those who are anxious and vulnerable. So if you feel able to continue to wear a face covering in church, that would be appreciated. But you no longer have to do so until you come up for Holy Communion or a blessing. Hand sanitiser continues to be made available and at the present time, we will still not share the common cup. Please do not attend church if you are unwell, continue to be considerate of each other and give people space where possible. Thank you.

Occasionally services may be transferred to one of our other churches, particularly for church festivals. Please see our website for the latest information.
