St Mary's Shepperdine

St Mary's Shepperdine is a small tin tabernacle on the banks of the River Severn. It is a very small church building that plays host to a small congregation on a monthly basis (in ordinary times) for BCP services. Also used for regular services at Rogation and Harvest it is a building at the heart of the farming community. It is also always open as a place of pilgrimage and prayer for those walking in the area. In collaboration with Oldbury we proudly achieved our Arocha Eco Church Silver Award in 2020.

Services at Shepperdine continue to be suspended due to Covid in light of the size of the building. We are open as a place of pilgrimage and prayer. For service details for the wider benefice please look at the details for St Mary's, Thornbury. If we can help you with searching for a place of worship, or planning for services for life events don't hesitate to get in touch with our benefice office at [email protected]

The benefice of Thornbury, Oldbury and Shepperdine is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Gloucester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
