St Mary's Thornbury

St Mary's is a warm and welcoming community in the market town of Thornbury. With a traditional choir and wonderful Norman building we are a popular destination for weddings and other celebrations, and welcome all comers. We proudly achieved our Eco Church Silver Award with Arocha in 2020.

The benefice of Thornbury, Oldbury and Shepperdine is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. Bell Ringing

Every Tuesday at for 1 hour
St Mary's Thornbury

Our beautiful bell tower is home to a merry band of bell ringers spanning all ages most of whom hail from the town. We are committed to keeping our bells rung regularly and to a high standard. We ring before service every Sunday as well as for special church events such as weddings. We practice on Tuesday evenings and are active in events organised in the wider ringing community at other churches such as service ringing, peals and quarter peals, practices and striking competitions. You're welcome to visit us in our lofty domain, whether you’re already a ringer, would like to learn to ring or you’d just to see what we do. Please contact us.
