About Us

Welcome to the Parish of Saint Philip & Saint James, Up Hatherley.

Saint Philip & Saint James is a Church of England church firmly rooted in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.   Please visit the "Useful Anglo-Catholic Links" page on our website for more information about our faith.  We are part of the Diocese of Gloucester and the Deanery of Cheltenham.

As part of our Anglo-Catholic status, the parish is under the episcopal oversight of the Bishop of Oswestry, and is  normally staffed by a priest of the Society of the Holy Cross.

Since late March 2026, however,  the parish has been in interregnum and therefore without a priest.  The volunteers on the Parochial Church Council (PCC) are running the church until we receive a new priest.  We are reliant on a number of visiting priests to conduct worship, and are currently able to run weekly services at 10am on Sundays which everyone is very welcome to.
