Following a Facebook post of a bees nest being found in the compost bin of our churchyard, a large nest of honey bees was discovered under the lid, very active with numerous visits to and from the nest. Avon Pest Control were contacted and arrived later in the day to manage them. Happily the bees have now been safely rehoused in a new beehive and are very happy! The beekeeper took a number of photos and a video to illustrate the process, from isolation and removal of the honeycomb (just 2 days worth!), finding and removing the queen in a small plastic container, moving the honeycomb to a new hive, and then providing a bridge (small twig) for the bees to travel from the compost bin to the hive. These are attached for you to enjoy.
