Good Friday

On Good Friday the church was stripped of colour and ornamentation as we gathered for the last hour before the cross to remember the death of Jesus in a quiet service, entitled The Tears of the Passion of Christ. We were led to reflect on the tears of affliction shed by Jesus, the tears of regret shed by Peter and the tears of compassion and fear shed by the women of Jerusalem. At 3pm the bare wooden cross bearing a symbolic crown of thorns was placed outside the church under appropriately cloudy skies.
