STOP PRESS! We have acquired an electric piano which was being sold locally and was spotted by our organist, Henry. Thanks to all who offered contributions to enable us to purchase it and to Roger and Henry for collecting it and installing it in church. We hope it will make it easier to arrange concerts in the future and it will be a useful alternative keyboard to have in church.
On Sunday 20th July, Naomi, Sophie and Roger from St. Lawrence presented "An afternoon in New Orleans" as part of the Blockley Summer Music Weekend. The concert was held in Blockley Church but proceeds came to Bourton on the Hill Church. However, now that we have toilet and kitchen facilities in St Lawrence, we have also been delighted to resume holding the occasional concert in our own church during the past year. On 9th November we held the first of a series of fundraising concerts which was really appreciated by the audience who braved the dark November night and on the afternoon of 15th February the Blockley Blokes Choir presented an afternoon concert with tea. Reports of all these past concerts can be found on the News and notices page.
Our church was recently used by the Blockley Brass Group for their Friday evening rehearsal. It was lovely to hear their music drifting outside into the surrounding churchyard. They are hoping to come and perform for us later this year as part of a harvest/ autumn concert.
Finally, we are pleased to announce that a group of people from the Blockley bell ringers have agreed to resume the practice of ringing the Bourton on the Hill bells before our evening service on the first Sunday of the month. We are very grateful to them and looking forward to their first visit in August.
