Restoring 'Little Ed', the Stow town clock, starts today!

Today was an exciting day for St Edward's Church and for the Closely Knit group who have been selling their knitted goods to raise funds for the restoration of the beloved Stow town clock that adorns the church tower. Over £30,000 has been raised and donated towards the target of £34,000.

The main working parts of the clock have been removed to the workshops of the Cumbria Clock Company. Most spectacular, though, was the removal of the dial this morning; in the workshop, it will be gilded and repainted, to return in six to eight weeks. Watch the video!

Thank you to everyone who has played their part by donating and especially by knitting and crocheting like crazy to 'save Little Ed'.
