Whether you are a small guided group or a large coach party, we're so looking forward to your visit! We welcome over 1000 people every day in our church during our busiest season and have received an exceptional Google rating of 4.7/5.

We are normally open Mondays to Saturdays 9-5 throughout the year, and 12-5 on Sundays - with exceptional closing times listed on our Google business page (click HERE). During July and August, access to our famous North Doors can be very busy after 11am, so we recommend coming early in the morning if you can.

By contacting the church office on [email protected] ahead of time, we may be able to provide you with a local guide from our own congregation (in English, German & French), who'd be delighted to share with you the history of the church, its active community, and JRR Tolkien's links to St Edwards Church. Alternatively you are welcome to bring along your own interpreter.

Due to increasing costs of maintenance and receiving no funding from the state, we ask for a donation of £4 per person. This can be paid in advance by contacting [email protected], or on the day either by card using the donation machine in church or by cash using a little brown envelope into the large red safe. We can provide you with a receipt upon request. Do also encourage your group members to visit our gifts table where we sell local products, souvenirs, Christian gifts, and second hand books.

While we don't have any WC facilities, your group members can use our refreshment area to refill their water bottles free of charge.

Please note that there is no on-site direct coach parking. The church has step free access with plenty of seating inside and outside, for those wanting a rest.
