Church of England Diocese of Gloucester Ashchurch

What to expect at a service during the Covid-19 Pandemic

18 Sep 2020, 5:15 p.m.

• Consider whether you can travel to church safely. Government guidelines say you should try not to share a vehicle with those outside your household or support bubble.

• Before you arrive and in order to maintain social distancing as seating is limited, you will have to book to attend.

• The doors will be open 15 minutes before the start of a service.

• You may need to wait outside before coming in and being shown to a seat. The pews in church will be marked to show where you can sit and you will be directed to a place by the churchwarden/sidesperson. We ask you to go straight to a seat and remain there for the duration of the service.

• You will need to wear a face covering throughout the service

• We will ask you where possible to complete a consent form with your details so that we can pass them on to NHS Track and Trace should we be asked to do so.

• There will be a service booklet for the service. This will be waiting on your seat, please take it away with you at the end of the service. If possible please keep this and bring it with you next time you attend (to help save the planet).

• Services will be said with responses made quietly, no singing.

• Any offering/collection can be placed on the plate on your way in or out. Please consider if you can give electronically rather than using cash.

• At the end of the service you will be asked to leave row by row. Please do not stay in church to chat. You may chat outside in the churchyard but please do not block the door way and exit for others. Please continue to maintain 2m social distancing.

• At present the small room in Ashchurch is not in use so any children attending will need to sit with their parents in the pews. Activity bags will be available or you can bring your own colouring or craft to do.

• The toilet will be available for use, but please note that we cannot clean between each use so it will not be guaranteed to be clear of infection. Please take great care over your own hygiene precautions.
