Church of England Diocese of Guildford

Guildford Cathedral

Guildford Cathedral is a warm-hearted community that is open to God, open to all.

Our Building might be closed to keep us all safe – but we are all here.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!

‘We are Easter people and Alleluia is our song’, wrote St Augustine of Hippo and with Christians around the world we celebrate new life in Christ. In all the prayer which carries on despite our closed building we are remembering all who are going to work for others.

In our isolation the Cathedral Team have been working together to continue our pattern of Sunday worship as far as possible. You can join our Morning worship on Sundays and our Home Worship resources at

All previous services are available here. We look forward to welcoming all into our building in due course. As difficult as it is to remain at home , especially as the weather continues to improve, we are all in this situation together and we all have such a vital role to play, whether we are on the front line, or doing our bit indoors.

For the church, Easter is a season lasting for 50 days culminating in the great festival of Pentecost. We continue in these days in celebration of all the goodness of humanity which we’re seeing now more than ever, and in hope that we will move joyfully into the new future before too long.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia.

The Very Reverend Dianna Gwilliams

Dean of Guildford

Guildford Cathedral is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Safeguarding Officer(s. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
