Join our Guides and explore Guildford Cathedral, The People’s Cathedral, an iconic Grade II* listed building, designed and built by Sir Edward Maufe during one of the most turbulent periods of the 20th Century.
Discover the community of 200,000 people who willed it into being through the brick giving campaign.
Enjoy commanding views towards the North Downs as you take in the stunning sculptures by artists such as Eric Gill, Charles Gurrey and Vernon Hill.
The tour lasts approximately an hour.

Tower Tour |12.30pm
This tour involves climbing 249 steps to the top of the Tower led by expert Guides. The reward is a stunning view over Surrey and the surrounding area. For health and safety reasons no children under eight years old will be allowed on the Tour. All children under sixteen years of age must be accompanied by an adult. No person over eighty years of age, infirm, disabled, pregnant ,suffers heart disorders or suffering from any other medical or physical condition which could be affected by the climb will be allowed onto the Tour. Visitors sign a risk acceptance form.
Join our Tower Tour Guides on an exciting journey spiralling up the 249 steps to the top of Guildford Cathedral. Pass through our Ringing Chamber and Bell Chamber containing the only ring of 12 bells in the Diocese. Enjoy the stunning 360° views across Guildford and towards London.
Please meet in the South Porch at least 15 minutes before the tour is scheduled to begin for a briefing.

Our informal service for toddlers and pre-schoolers takes place on the first Wednesday of each month at 10.00am. Each session of Cathedral Tots includes toys, songs, a Bible story, prayer, craft and refreshments. Cathedral Tots is a free activity, with a welcoming and relaxed community of parents/carers and young children. There is currently no requirement to book places for these services. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join our Tower Tour Guides on an exciting journey spiralling up the 249 steps to the top of Guildford Cathedral. Pass through our Ringing Chamber and Bell Chamber containing the only ring of 12 bells in the Diocese. Enjoy the stunning 360° views across Guildford and towards London before descending and visiting our Cafe/Restaurant for a well-deserved piece of cake!

The selected dates between April - September at 2.00pm and are limited to 15 people per tour. As this is a working Cathedral, there are occasions when tours will not be available (if a service or event is being held); details of cancellations will be notified to any pre-booked ticket holders.

Schools’ Evensong Project

Choral Evensong sung jointly by the Cathedral Choir and George Abbott School Choir

Guildford Cathedral’s Schools and College Evensong Project, started in September 2024, thanks to a grant from the Cathedral Music Trust. This initiative will involve secondary schools and sixth form colleges learning Choral Evensong repertoire and performing alongside the Cathedral choir, with a different school participating each half term.
Katherine Dienes Williams expressed her delight, stating, “This grant allows our musicians to inspire young people in state secondary schools, offering tuition and the memorable experience of singing in a Cathedral. It will foster their musical development while enabling them to experience the joy of singing together.”
The project represents a unique opportunity for students to explore new music under professional guidance, with the unforgettable experience of performing in a Cathedral setting.
