So, summer is on its way as I write in June – School will be closing for the summer holidays, the sun is shining. People are coming and going for time away and days out.
Taking a break, having a Sabbath rest, is right at the heart of God’s plans for all of us.
We all need time to pause, to reflect, to look back. We need time to grow and develop. We need times of quiet to dream dreams and plan plans.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me . Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28- 30 (Message translation).
Why not come along and find stillness, peace and a place to reflect at St John’s. However you spend your summer I hope you have time to rest and recharge.
Every Blessing Revd Jacqueline
