We are a small community church originally built for those living on the Fen sone 4.5 miles south of Holbeach and now serving a population of 500. We hold services on the 1st and 3rd Sunday's of each month at 9.00 and share a Benefice service with the 3 other parishes in our Benefice of Elloe Stone on the 5th Sunday when it occurs.
We hold very successful monthly parish lunches in the winter months and in the summer we have supporters in the village who held their third Holbeach St Johns Fun Fifty in June consisting of a 6 mile family circuit and 25 mile, 50 mile and even 75 mile rides for the more experienced riders with 80 taking part in this British Cycling supported event. This has been a wonderful outreach project for us and the village has a buzz during the whole day.
We are unfortunately now in vacancy after Rev Gareth Atha left us to move closer to family connections in Yorkshire. The Benefice Churchwardens are meeting regularly with our Rural Dean and are working towards a new appointment by Easter of 2021. Our service schedule is not as regular as we would like and we are working to return to our normal schedule whilst Rev Barbara Hutchinson, our benefice local Ordained Minister and Geoff Barham a licensed Lay Reader are assisting us when allocated to do so in addition to other available clergy.
