About Us

St Nicholas, Skirbeck is the oldest Parish Church in Boston, dating from around 1066 and the time of the Doomsday book and Norman Conquest. We continue to seek to bring our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ to the community and bear witness to Him.

We are a church of the Anglo-Catholic tradition in all of its richness of liturgy, symbolism and beauty. As we are committed to the catholic faith as the Church of England has received it, and its proclamation afresh in this generation we uphold catholic order and the doctrine of the Sacraments. Thus, we are a Forward in Faith parish of The Society of St Wilfred and St Hilda.

The Society seeks to promote and maintain these same aims as well as provide episcopal oversight (care by Bishops of the Society), and guarantee a ministerial priesthood to its parishes in the historic apostolic succession which all can have confidence in.

Mass is celebrated in the Parish Church on Sundays and there is a mid-week Low Mass every week, usually on Tuesday unless a Solemnity occurs in the week.

At present there are some alteration to our services. You can keep up to date on these via our Services page, and via our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/stnicholasskirbeck
