Reflection from the Rectory – Life in the Holy Spirit

We will have celebrated Pentecost by the time this newsletter is published, and I have been thinking ( I know!).If I were to ask you the following question, how might you respond. (I’m giving you lots of notice!) How is the Holy Spirit encouraging you in your Christian life? The receiving of the Holy Spirit by the disciples of Jesus was a time of wonder and joy, and without a little bit of what do we do now. That happens for us too. Being a disciple of Jesus is a wonderful and joyful calling. We serve in his name; to act his eyes, hands and feet in this modern world. Bringing comfort, love and kindness to those that we meet in his name. Annual Parochial Church Meetings are now complete, and I wish to welcome new Churchwardens and PCC members, thank those who are continuing in post and very grateful thanks to those who have stood down following years of faith service. Following Trinity Sunday on the 31st of May we enter the period of the church calendar known as Ordinary Time (Green is the colour of that season). It is far from being ordinary. It is a time when we can think about our sacrificial life in Jesus. There are no large festivals during this period so we can concentrate on building up our lives through service, study, community. Bible Studies will begin again in June with Reverend Rosemary leading off. Corinna will lead the monthly “beginners” offering and we will have an evening study during the summer which is offered to those wishing to know more and explore. Whatever you do in Jesus’ name thank you and I pray as the year goes on we might work together more closely in continuing that service. The Blessings. Reverend Al.

St Mary's, Evedon

Welcome to St Mary's.  It is really good to welcome you to our A Church Near You website. We hope your visit will be a positive one.

We are glad that you have chosen to look at what is happening in our church and finding out about its history. If you have time please let us know what you think of the site. We hope too that you will want to visit the church and perhaps attend one of our services.

The parish of Evedon: St Mary is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Lincoln’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

With every blessing. Reverend Al.
