Maundy Thursday: From Supper to Silence

Occurring
for 2 hours, 15 mins
Venue
All Saints Church - New Brumby - Scunthorpe
Address
Warwick Road, Junction with East Common Lane Scunthorpe, DN16 1HH, United Kingdom

We warmly invite you to join us for our Maundy Thursday service, a deeply reflective and moving beginning to the Easter Triduum.

The service will include an Agape Meal, sharing simple food together in remembrance of the fellowship of the Last Supper, as Jesus gathered with his disciples. This is followed by a time of worship as we recall Christ’s commandment to love one another.

As the service continues, the church will be gradually stripped of its adornments, a powerful and symbolic act reflecting the abandonment of Christ and the desolation of the world as he goes to his passion.

The service concludes in silence with the Watch, a quiet time of waiting and prayer, echoing the disciples’ vigil with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. You are invited to remain for as long as you feel able, keeping watch in stillness and contemplation.

All Saints Church - New Brumby - Scunthorpe

Welcome to All Saints Church, here in Scunthorpe, where everyone is very welcome.  We meet on Sunday mornings as well as during the week.

As a parish, we are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people, and adults. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Lincoln’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
