1950s Youth Group enjoys friendship for more than 75 years!

Elsie and Bill Lunt formed the Christ Church Youth Group in the 1950s, meeting up on Friday evenings for a talk, followed by dancing to music played on the piano by Mr. Coffey. The group organized school concerts and dances in the Aughton Institute, and they joined the “Liverpool Association of Boys and Mixed Clubs" with whom they enjoyed occasional weekends away in Llangollen, Wales.

Their enjoyment of dancing took them into Liverpool for big occasions when the men wore a smart suit and the ladies wore a ball gown.

As the years went by, several of these early friendships developed into lasting marriages and the group drifted apart. However, it reformed several years ago to enjoy weekends away in the Lake District and North Wales.

More recently, several group members meet up once a month for lunch in Cafe Vista to catch up on recent events and to share memories of their early days together.

Elsie and Bill Lunt would be thrilled to know that by God’s grace, this group has remained friends for more than 75 years.
