About Us

We are a traditional Church of England parish church, a christian community seeking to grow in faith through fellowship, worship, prayer and learning together, striving to reflect God’s love through service and mission. We hope to make everyone feel welcome.

Located in the beautiful Halsall countryside, we are an active parish Linked through our combined benefice with with St. Thomas' church in Lydiate and, St Cuthbert's, Haskayne and St. Thomas' Schools. Our church community is made up of people of all ages with many families and an active Sunday school. The oldest parts of the church date from the 14th century and there have been several alterations and additions. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.

Liverpool Diocese's rule of life for our diocese guides our efforts to listen to God's call to each and every one of us to be people who are called to pray, read and learn, and sent to tell, serve and give.

St. Cuthbert's church is in the deanery of Ormskirk, the archdeaconry of Warrington, and the diocese of Liverpool. Its benefice is combined with that of St. Thomas', Lydiate.

St. Cuthbert's Church has strong links with the local excellent Church of England primary schools:

St. Cuthbert's Church of England School Halsall (Head Teacher Mr D Scholes)

Downholland Haskayne (Head Teacher Mrs C Mcilwain)

St. Thomas' Lydiate (Head Teacher Mrs  E Alty)
