St Cuthbert’s, Halsall – July 2025 Highlights This July, our parish life was full of worship, fellowship, community service, and memorable moments. Worship & Fellowship Weekly Parish Eucharist – Every Sunday at 9:30 am, alternating Book of Common Prayer and Common Worship. Term-time family services included Church Without Walls and Messy Church. Christian Chatter – On Tuesday 22 July, our monthly evening gathering met at the church, offering space for reflection on faith, gratitude, and our community. Special Events Farm Service – 20 July A joyful united benefice service was held at the Webster family’s Hollin House Green Farm, Aughton. Around 150 people worshipped together in a potato barn, giving thanks for farming, blessing the land, and learning about potato and cabbage growing. The day included tractor rides, field walks, craft activities, freshly made crisps, tea, and homemade cake—a celebration of God’s abundant generosity. Church Walk & Lunch Members enjoyed a gentle walk through Halsall, finishing with a sociable lunch at The Saracen’s Head. World Chocolate Day – 7 July Marked with a light-hearted online post to share some sweetness with the parish community. Community Service & Fundraising Church Clean – 17 July Volunteers gathered to give our Grade I-listed building a thorough mid-summer refresh. Halsall Scarecrow Festival The festival’s colourful displays ran through June into July. Linked fundraising raised £317, shared between St Cuthbert’s, the Memorial Hall Trust, and The Bees and Butterflies project. Rev. Susan’s Abseil – 26 July Rev. Susan bravely abseiled 150 feet from Liverpool Cathedral to raise funds for improved disabled access at the church and graveyard. Target: £750 – Final total: over £1,270, including a £500 gift from MLS Funeral Directors. Looking Ahead We give thanks for all who served, attended, and prayed with us in July. As summer continues, we look forward to welcoming everyone to our August services, events, and outreach.
