Lowton St Mary's Church

There was an opportunity for everyone to write their own special message to Helen on a string of bunting and for the many children there to lead everyone in the actions to some of the songs. Heartfelt messages were read out by a representative from each church and Steve Hardaker the Headmaster from St. Luke's school.

Below is the message read out on behalf of St. Mary's ' Growing God's Church' Action Group.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.

That saying is about the importance of change and moving forward and speaking on behalf of St. Mary's action group, who have worked closely with Helen, we have seen some wonderful changes take place in the two. years that Helen has been with us.

There will be an article in December's church magazine outlining the changes that have been implemented and also thanking members of St. Mary's congregation for their help and support.

One vitally important area we feel we must mention, has been Helen's engagement and communication with children and young families during her time with us, through her involvement with School, Baptism families, the Celebration Service and Messy Church, or in fact anywhere else she has had opportunity to meet with them, It's lovely to see how these young people are completely at ease in her company and some are now regularly worshipping with us.

The START! Course, which is an on line course via Zoom, has been introduced for the first time, for young people, or anyone starting to explore their journey of faith. These have been held early evening so people with young children don't have to leave their homes.

Those who want to learn more can then continue with the Moving On course and how fantastic is it that some of them have gone forward for confirmation.

YES, we have been dragged out of our comfort zone!

YES, the Praise Group have had to learn numerous new and wonderful modern worship songs. How many Pam? 15 and counting!!

YES, we were told that this is the way God wants us to go! And God's timing was spot on.

Helen has shown us how we can Grow God's Church if we all work together. We MUST carry on. But we will all miss her badgering.
