St Botolph's annual sequence of choral music and words on the Wednesday in Holy Week marks two significant anniversaries. The centenary of the death of Sir Charles Villiers Stanford falls later in Holy Week, and the St Botolph's professional Choir, directed by Iestyn Evans and with internationally known soloists, perform four of the composers six Bible Songs with their accompanying Hymn-anthems; these are juxtaposed with reflections by the great writer and thinker G K Chesterton, the sesquicentenary of whose birth also falls in 2024. The service also includes hymns and prayers for all.
