There has been a church on this site in Hendon since at least the 10th century and you are welcome to visit to view the building , or just come in for a few moments of quiet reflection.

Open Church in May - Springtime Celebration

for 4 hours

All are welcome to our next Open Church Day on Saturday 4th May, 12.00-16.00, at St Mary's Church Hendon.
May's theme is 'Spring Celebration' where we will focus on trees, flowers and St Mary's Churchyard – with guided tours at 1pm and 2.30pm, and self-guided trails. Indoors we will have history and heritage displays.

As usual there will be games & puzzles, and do stay for some cake, hot drinks & chat.

There will be a voluntary litter pick from 12.00-12.30.

Parish Prayer Walks

Following six successful prayer walks in Lent, we are joining together to enjoy the open air, learn more about the area, enjoy the wildlife (and sometimes a hot drink to finish). We also stop occasionally to pray for the people and places of Hendon.

Holy Week & Easter

The schedule of services in the parish for Holy Week and Easter - including stations of the cross, compline and the liturgies for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Day.

During our services at St Mary's, sublime music by two of Britain's great Renaissance composers - Wililam Byrd and Thomas Weelkes - marking the 400th anniversary of their deaths.

At Evensong on Palm Sunday, you will hear Weelkes Evening Service and "Hosanna to the Son of David" and on Easter Day at Evensong, Byrd's "Alleluia, the Strife is O'er" and the Magnifcat and Nunc Dimittis from his Great Service.

On Good Friday at Christ Church, our youth group will be leading an interactive "Stations of the Cross" using images they have made in response to the Holy Week narrative.
