On the afternoon of Sunday 21st December, we will gather in church for our Carol & Christingle service; a beautiful way to prepare us for Christmas and to engage with the hope and light we find in the manger on Christmas Eve. During our time together, everyone is offered a Christingle bag, containing all the 'ingredients' to make a Christingle as we sing well-loved and remembered Christmas carols. The church will be lit with candles in all the windows and during our service we will light the Christingle candles making more light as we pray for the work of the Children's Society. There will be refreshments after the service for everyone and a chance to win some goodies at our sweet tombola, and buy those last minute Christmas stocking fillers. With the Christmas tree lights twinkling this afternoon gives us an insight into the light and hope of God, who in his Son came to live amongst us. "I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life"' (John 8:12)
This year we met via zoom for Mass on Remembrance Sunday. Then, we moved to our War memorial chapel to observe the two minute silence. We then laid two wreaths, a red one and a purple one (for the animals). After the service a short tribute to the day was posted on YouTube which you can find here:https://youtu.be/2S3zMKMhVkUOn Remembrance Day we will meet in the peace garden for a short service during which we will sow some poppy seeds as a sign that in Christ there is always the hope of new life.We will Remember
