St Michael and All Angels
St Michaels is a community that is welcoming and accepting of all - a large, vibrant, very family friendly congregation who’s strapline is Worship, Friendship, Fun! Come and see for yourself.....
St Michaels is once again open for Public Worship
Naturally, we can't operate as normal and there will be a limit on numbers able to attend – about 60 – for our usual congregational services.
Because of other factors we are dealing with at St Michaels at the present time as well as COVID restrictions, we will have two services each week which may be Morning Worship or Holy Communion
Sundays at 10am
Wednesdays at 10am
Please consider carefully which one to attend since we will have to turn away people when we are up to our limit.
The Gordon Hill Church door will open at 9.30am and a socially distanced queue outside needs to be formed as people are let in. Please ensure you arrive in good time as it will take some time to seat you all!
The wearing of face coverings by all those over 11 years of age attending a place of worship, including ministers and worshippers, where there may be other people present, is now required in law unless exempted.
Please also note the following;
• No buggies/prams/scooters will be allowed in Church
• Sanitise your hands as you enter, pick up a Service sheet, make your gift offering.
• You will be directed to a seat by a Warden – please follow their instructions to ensure you and the Warden keep safe.
• Please don’t turn around to talk to others (use the time to pray!)
• Children will need to sit still with their parents and not be allowed to wander/crawl away
• Holy Communion will be offered in the form of a bread wafer only
At the close of the service a Warden will tell you when you can leave so as to maintain social distancing as people exit the Church (via the Hall Porch door). We encourage you to leave the church premises promptly to maintain social distancing inside and outside of church!
Obviously, our main aim in these early months is to make the return to Church a safe and prayerful experience, beginning to enjoy once again (albeit in a different fashion) what we have missed and longed for since the middle of March.
The parish of St Michael Gordon Hill is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer, PSO. The Diocese of London’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
