The Spring concert celebrates the flamboyance of the Americans. Including works by Ives, Marques and Copland. It features the first symphony of Florence Price. Price was the first African American woman to have her work performed by a major symphony orchestra. The music critic of the Chicago times, in 1933, described it as “a faultless work, a work that speaks its own message with restraint and yet with passion… worthy of a place in the regular symphonic repertoire.”
Brent Symphony Orchestra is one of London’s oldest and best known amateur orchestras.
