Fresh Focaccia, Pin the Crown on the King and Queen, music, and a ‘Higher-Lower’ game, were just some of the fun and entertainment had by all at the King Charles III Coronation Community Street Party held at Christ the Redeemer, Southall, on Bank Holiday Monday, 8th May, 2023. Around two hundred people attended throughout the day, during which many prominent national and local representatives attended.

Councillor Karam Mohan and Councillor Swaran Padda opened events, witnessed the glorious bunting, balloons, coverings, and decorations, and sampled the lovely Focaccia, samosas, sandwiches, food, cakes, and refreshments available. Many of our extremely supportive local shop owners and businesses also mingled, joined in games, and had fun dancing.

Virendra Sharma, MP for Southall, and Dr Onkar Sahota, Chair and London Assembly Member for Ealing and Hillingdon, arrived early afternoon. Both gave very heartfelt speeches about King Charles III, chatted to and mixed with guests, and were very entertained by the activities. A highlight of their stop was two games of ‘Higher-Lower’, where participants had to guess if the card picked would be higher or lower than a two – with those guessing correctly progressing into the next round, until a winner was found.

The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha, and Ealing Council Leader, Councillor Peter Mason, attended late afternoon. Mayor Midha gave a warm speech on King Charles III, and then both the Mayor and Councillor Mason sat and chatted with people, and enjoyed the food, drinks, and entertainment.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time celebrating with, and chatting to, their community, listening to the wide-ranging music, and savouring the food and activities. Fresh samosas, spring rolls, and chicken wings, were all consumed in abundance, along with savouries and snacks.

The party was an amazing success, and we would like to thank everyone involved in planning, arranging, organising, facilitating, and donating to the event, especially the aforementioned representatives, local police and:
