About Us

St Mary's Bryanston Square is led by Rev John Peters alongside Associate Rector Rev Ed Flint and our curate Rev Ben Jones.

Life is Precious. Faith should be the spark of life. It's about connecting with God, not being religious. We know we're not for everyone. At St Mary's we'd rather go for it than play it safe. It's not always pretty, we don't always get it right. Life is an adventure.

The best way to get a taste of St Mary’s is to come along on Sunday and say hello. We hold two services every Sunday:

11am: Relaxed & child friendly

Slouch café is open from 10.30am serving bacon rolls, pastries, tea and coffee. The morning service begins at 11am with a short time of children’s worship before the kids go to their groups. Once the children have left there is usually more worship, followed by teaching and prayer. We also have a youth group that meet every week on the lower floor. Find out more about the youth group and the various groups for children here.

6.30pm: Informal & relaxed

The evening service shares the same values as the morning with worship, teaching and prayer ministry. Most people who attend are in their 20s and 30s but everyone is welcome! There is no children’s work so these services aren’t suitable for kids.

Slouch Cafe

Slouch opens on the lower floor after the service, serving hot meals and homemade dessert – it’s a great place to hang out and meet new people. After Slouch lots of us also go to The Larrik pub just down the road or The Temperance pub opposite the church.

Talks

All our Sunday talks are recorded and available on our website or through iTunes.

Our Values:

Religion Free

Church should help us connect with God and each other. We shouldn’t be constrained or hindered by religion. We try to do church in a way that is accessible to everyone, whatever your experience of church and whatever you believe.

Adventurous

We’d rather go for it all then play it safe by being open to what God is doing. We also want to give away what we’ve received, to our local community, other churches and beyond!

Human

The church is made up of people and people don’t always get it right. Everyone is welcome at St Mary’s just as they are.

Messy

It’s not always pretty but we always want to be a place where we can open ourselves to God and let him do what he wants to do.

Informal

We’re not a club – there’s no dress code and we’re not exclusive. We know we’re not for everyone but we’d love you to come and see if we’re right for you.
