St James, Gorton
A friendly church in the heart of Gorton. All are welcome, whether you have a strong Christian faith, or are just starting to explore what faith in Jesus Christ might mean for you.
Due to the current situation with coronavirus we will not be meeting for public worship until further notice. Do be assured that the community of Gorton are held in our prayers. If there is anything we can do for you practically, please do get in touch with the Rector, Revd Craig Smith, via the contact page. We are happy to help with practical things such as picking up shopping, or posting letters for people who are self-isolating. We are also happy to make phone calls to encourage those who live alone and may feel anxious or afraid. Please do get in touch if you or someone you know would appreciate some help.
The parish of St James in the Benefice of Gorton with Abbey Hey is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Manchester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
