St Mark's Church Worsley
St Marks Worsley has reopened for services with Morning Service at 10:30 a.m each Sunday morning. At present this is our only Sunday morning.
All precautions are being taken as set out in the Government and the Church of England guidelines. It is important for you to know that, for the moment at least, church will feel rather different to how we remember pre-lockdown. Please read the full story on the News Page for more information.
This year we are unable to offer some of our special services in their usual format due to Covid-19. Please find below details of what will be happening.
All Saints, Service for the Faithful Departed Sunday 1 November 2020
We are unable to hold our All Saints Service in its usual format and are planning to have a temporary memorial outside on the grassed area to the side of church where people can come and remember their loved ones and place a flower if they wish. This will be available from Friday 30 October for approximately 5 days. There will be a prayer placed there for people to read. We will be taking names from people who want the names of their loved ones remembered and these will be read out in church along with the names of everyone we have held a funeral for during the last 2 years. This will be done privately at 4.00pm by our ALMs who will also light candles.
Remembrance Sunday 8 November 2020
Remembrance Sunday is 8 November this year. The service will be different from normal as we are unable to accommodate the numbers we normally see attend. When our service is over members of the congregation will be able to pay their own respects at the cenotaph and as they pass place their poppies if desired but must remain socially distanced.
We will have a toy service in a similar way to how we have done Harvest; this will be on 29 November and boxes will be placed at the back of church for you to leave your gifts on the 22nd and 29th November.
We are investigating how we can hold our Crib and/or Christingle services maybe virtually.
We will have two Christmas services:
Christmas Eve Midnight Mass and Christmas Day Service (10.30am on Christmas Day).
Keeping you safe: In line with the advice from the Church of England, we strongly advise that face coverings should be worn by all those attending a place of worship, including ministers, worshippers, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors, where there may be other people present; remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus (COVID-19) and that they are not a replacement for social distancing and regular hand washing.
