Did you participate in our first ever live streamed worship? Many in Blackley and beyond came together for a time of worship, teaching and prayer this morning using the wonders of modern technology. Admittedly, there was the odd dropout of sound or video but for many it was a much-appreciated opportunity to come together and enjoy fellowship and worship and extend their technical skills as well! It was good to see our ministers, who only a week ago were expressing reluctance about being recorded never mind live streaming, getting to grips with leading worship in a different context. Many comments were expressed regarding how grateful people were for the time and effort that had been put into making this event happen. Going to church and the moment is simply not possible but being church is always possible. Here are just some of the comments we received:"It was so emotional but enjoyed every moment. Thank you and stay safe""Well done with the online service, no need to have been nervous, looked and sounded very natural. In fact I think you've started something now..""Thoroughly enjoyed this morning's service. Great work to all involved. Looking forward to next Sunday.""I found the service very moving. Thank you"We give thanks to God for all members of our church family who are working hard to make sure that our community continues to be served by the Blackley Churches. It would seem the service reached many more individuals than those who regularly join us Sunday by Sunday in our church buildings. Let us hope and pray that this is a new way for us to share the love of God.We are all looking forward to next week service, please think about joining us. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter @BlackleyCofE for regular updates.
Following advice from Public Health England and the Church of England, we have had no option but to immediately suspend all church services and activities to play our part in the fight against this virus. We are first and foremost a community of prayer, hope and loving service. We may not be GOING to church for a while, but nothing will prevent us from BEING church. In the coming days we will be looking at the ways we can:• Open our buildings at set times for those want to pray• Partner with others to mobilise volunteers for those who need supplies• Co-ordinate appropriate pastoral care for the isolated• Use social media channels to connect and supportPlease be assured that we are praying for Blackley and its amazing people. If you think we can help someone, or you would like to contact us and support our work then please do so via social media, @blackleycofe, on 0161 264 9982 or by email admin@blackleycofe.org
