As our church stands slightly set back from a busy main road, an attractive, well positioned noticeboard displaying service times, a contact number and other information will always be a vital aid in our reaching out to the wider community:* The homes, schools and places of work around us.....and just as importantly......* The 'foot-fall' on Denton Road and Ashton Road ~ hundreds of people walk past here every day and many more drive - or ride - past!A new noticeboard - professionally designed and installed - was one of the first priorities for the church council (PCC) and our new vicar Mthr Amy-ElizabethA huge 'Thank You' to Carl at Jaguar Printing and Signs, Manchester Road, Denton on a job well done!
Described as 'The Celebration of a New Ministry and Welcome', the service at St Hilda's on 12th September was a joyful celebration, a landmark occasion for St Hilda's and St Stephen's. Ten months after taking her first services, we are delighted that Mother Amy will now be with us full-time.The service was led by the Bishop of Middleton, the Rt Rev Mark Davies and the Archdeacon of Rochdale, the Ven David Sharples, assisted by the Area Dean of Oldham and Ashton, the Rev Daniel Ramble. The new vicar had this message for the faithful of both churches and the wider community:"I'm so overjoyed to become vicar of St Hilda's and St Stephen's to serve all in Audenshaw and to work as a team in both churches to proclaim the good news of Jesus, to be his love in action. Both churches are here for everyone and everyone is welcome."
His leap from the sky went ahead as scheduled on 3rd August at Sibson airfield, near Peterborough. Sponsored by friends and well-wishers who pledged their support through an online 'Just Giving' page, Kenny is proud to have reached his personal target of £1,000 which will go towards the much-needed essential repairs which are underway to maintain and improve our church building. Why St Hilda's? Some years ago the funeral service for Kenny's beloved grandparents was held in the church before they were laid to rest in Denton Cemetery. Recently Kenny's father passed away and his service was held at St Hilda's on 1st June 2023. "The service was led by the Rev Amy-Elizabeth Sheridan who made it feel so personal and such a heartfelt and memorable occasion for the whole family. I will never forget the respectful and 'non rushed' way that Rev Amy gave the service so we were able to say 'Goodbye' for now to our beloved father and grandfather to our children."
