About Us

St John with St Mark Church is on Sunny Avenue just off Walmersley Road in the northern part of Bury. Together with Christ Church Walmersley we form the United Benefice of Walmersley Road. We are a broad mix of ages and backgrounds with an extensive range of groups, activities and interests as you'll see from our website: https://stjohnstmarkchurchbury.com/

Our Benefice clergy team includes the Vicar, Readers, Authorised Lay Ministers and retired clergy... We have a rota of church organists though sometimes we have to use CD's! Together this means variety of tone and pace to our services while set within a familiar structure of using 'Common Worship'. 

When lock-down restrictions allow, we also have a more informal Cafe Church 4 times a year. Once a month we have Sunday@Seven evening praise services, which we've been Zooming, and around 4 Parade Services a year, some mid-week.

Our main service is at 10.30am on a Sunday and you're very welcome to join us for this or for any other of our services or activities during the week. On the third Sunday of the month we have a 'Service of the Word' led by a Reader or Authorised Lay Minister i.e. no Communion.
